Bob Beaudry has lived in Westfield for 14 years and said he’s always wanted to serve the community. He ran for Westfield City Council four years ago and is trying again this year.

“I love the Westfield community, and it’s been really great raising our daughters in the community,” Beaudry said. “I ran four years ago for council, and my youngest daughter graduated from IU back in May, so my wife (Alison) and I are now empty nesters.”

Both of Beaudry’s daughters graduated from Westfield High School. He has owned Indy Screen Print for 30 years. Because he’s self-employed, he said he has flexibility to serve on the council.

“I’m not against anything, but I feel like we need to exercise some fiscal responsibility when it comes to spending taxpayer dollars,” he said.

Beaudry said annual budgets should be more transparently presented.

“I think we have some room to cut taxes by cutting budgets. I think we need a finance committee to help guide us in the finances of the community,” Beaudry said. “I’m concerned about the debt.”

Beaudry also said it’s time to revisit the city’s comprehensive plan, which was created in 2007.

“It’s been 12 years. Things change over time,” he said. “We need to make sure we have a planned strategy as the city continues to grow and grow responsibly, and it’s not so volatile.  (Growth has) got to be intentional.”
