Robert “Wayne” Musselman, 97, of Noblesville died June 15, 2014 at his home after a brief illness. Born June 29, 1916 in Wayne Township, he was the son of O.C. and Jesse (Males) Musselman.

One of his farms is a recognized Hoosier Homestead, having been in the family more than 100 years. He was a highly respected and recognized farmer, raising Landou Hogs, Shropshire Sheep, and Shorthorn and Simmental Cattle. He retired in 1985, but continued to advise and share his knowledge of farming for future generations. He was a Dekalb Seed Company dealer for 56 years, receiving much recognition for his corn crops from Hamilton County.

He was one of three who saw a need for fire protection in the area, and started the present Wayne Township Fire Dept. He was a member of the state and county cattle associations, the Masonic Lodge for 75 years (serving twice as Worshipful Master), and a committee member of Farm Fest. His farm was the cattle stop on the first Hamilton County Farm Fest.

He served as Deacon for many years at Clarksville Christian Church, and sponsored 4-H and FFA. Aside from farming, he enjoyed hunting in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Brown County. He also raised and trained German Shorthaired Pointers, which were his pride.

Survivors include his wife of 77 years, Helen (Costomiris) Musselman; children, Joyce (Harry) Wiggins, Gary (Pam) Musselman, Jean (Ron) Fleming, Pat Overdorf, David Musselman and Diana Musselman; 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Teeters; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandsons-in-law, Vic Wainscott and Chad Hittle; infant great-grandson, Riley Simmons; three sisters; and three brothers.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. June 19 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville, with a Masonic Lodge Service to begin at 8 p.m. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. June 20 at the funeral home, with Ron Goble, nephew of the deceased, officiating.
