Carmel Clerk-Treasurer Christine Pauley has launched a new series of free lunchtime classes on financial wellness. The first presentation is on “customer service” and is being led by Danny O’Malia, who learned customer service from his father, Joe O’Malia, founder of the O’Malia grocery stores.

The first presentation is being held from Noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday May 3 inside the council chambers of Carmel City Hall. While the event is geared toward Carmel city employees, anyone from the public is welcome to attend.

The event will be bi-monthly and attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunches as they learn about financial and work-life wellness.

“I believe that financial wellness is just as important as physical wellness,” Pauley said.

O’Malia has been called “Indy’s Trusted Servant” and even has a Web site called indystrustedservant.com. O’Malia served as CEO of O’Malia Food Markets from 1986 to 2006 and has been delivering Customer Service Training and Keynote Speaking since 2007. He also had his own radio show on 91.9 WITT-FM.

“Many of us forget that our employer is the taxpayer of Carmel who have placed their hard earned money into our stewardship,” Pauley said.

Pauley said it’s important to, “view our role in city government as one of having a servants’ heart.”
