When U.S. 31 construction was completed, an overpass was built at 169th Street in Westfield where there used to be a stoplight. The stoplight provided easy access to Tom Roush Auto Group’s Lincoln Mazda dealership, 525 David Brown Dr.

Now, the highway passes right over the dealership, which prompted it to search for a second location.

Vice President and General Manager Jeff Roush said the search for a second began at 96th Street, where many other car dealerships are  located. But a high-cost entry and lack of appropriate land directed the search a little further east.

Two car dealerships sold Lincolns in central Indiana – Andy Mohr Automotive in Plainfield, and Roush at Tom Roush Auto Group in Westfield. Lincoln decided consolidate the brand into one dealership, so Roush forged a deal with Mohr.

“We felt, along with Lincoln, this is a one-point market, just one guy can handle it if he’s the right dealer,” Roush said. “We feel like we were the right dealer. That’s how we landed on Andy’s Mitsubishi store out there. A suggestion was made to make a deal with Andy to purchase the real estate and remodel it into a state-of-the-art Lincoln boutique store, one of the very few in the country.”

For a price Roush didn’t disclose, the deal worked, and Tom Roush Lincoln will move into the previous Andy Mohr Mitsubishi off Ind. 37 at 13927 Trade Center Dr. Prior to opening its Fishers location, Tom Roush Auto Group will sell all three car brands at its Westfield dealership.

After the opening, Mazdas and Mitsubishis will be sold at the Westfield location, with Lincolns sold at the Fishers location.

If all goes well, Roush said, the new store will open in May. The remodel will begin in February and take 12 weeks.

“Because we’ve been here for 40 years in this location, most of our customers are quite used to coming here for service and sales,” Roush said. “While we won’t be able to sell Lincolns out of this (Westfield) location, we will still be able to service them out of this location.”
