Rotary donation – Zionsville Rotary recently made a $500 donation to the Zionsville Food Pantry. This is part of Rotary’s ongoing commitment to serve the community. Pictured are Marc Mitalski, Zionsville Rotary President, and Angie Campbell from the food pantry.

Kincaid a finalist – Zionsville resident Hon. Matthew C. Kincaid has been selected by the Judicial Nominating Commission as one of three finalists for the open seat on the Indiana Supreme Court. Gov. Work begins on I-65 – INDOT announces work on a $47.2 million project to patch and resurface I-65 between Lebanon and Lafayette from the 141 to the 165 mile marker. Nighttime lane closures will vary between the hours of 6 p.m. until 8 a.m.  The project is scheduled to be complete in October 2018.

Mayor’s Night In – Mayor Tim Haak and the Town of Zionsville staff and department heads want to hear from you. Mayor’s Night In will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 26 at Zionsville Town Hall. This is a chance to hear about the current happenings in Zionsville, to ask questions and to connect with Town officials. Following a brief presentation, there will be a Q&A session. All residents, neighborhood associations and businesses are invited to attend.

Parks programs – Starkey Park observations, 1 to 3 p.m. on April 29 at Starkey Park, 667 Sugarbush Dr. Observations are being collected with iNaturalist to provide a better understanding of the species and habitats that thrive within Starkey Park. Bring your smart phone or camera and join Park Naturalist Mindy Murdock as she explores the seasonal changes in the park.

Kite Day – The sixth annual Kite Day will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on April 30 at The Boys & Girls Club West, 5964 S. 700 East, Whitestown. Bring your family, friends, kites, and picnics. Admission is $2/person and $5/family of 5. All proceeds benefit the Zionsville Boys & Girls Clubs.  Rain date is May 7. For more information, call 317-919-7901.

Theater Thursdays – Boone County Senior Services, Inc. brings back Theater Thursdays on the third Thursday of each month with a special morning movie at the Lebanon 7 Theater, 1600 N. Lebanon St. for those ages 60 and over. The cost is $1/person and includes a breakfast snack. Upcoming movies include: April 20 – Joy; May 18 – Mother’s Day. Electronics recycling – An electronics recycling and shredding drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 29 at Creekside Middle School, 126th and Shelbourne Road, Carmel. Shredding is $5 per box. Electronics recycling is free except for tube TVs and monitors, which are $10 each. Also accepted will be prescription drugs. Proceeds will benefit Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.

New scholarship program – Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union, announces the new Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program, available to college students that are members of Indiana Members Credit Union. Up to twenty-five $1,000 scholarships will be offered. Shoe drive for HEC – As a part of the Aveda Earth Month campaign, Sundance SalonSpa is conducting a shoe drive to raise funds for Hoosier Environmental Council’s (HEC) clean water initiatives. HEC will earn funds based on the total weight of shoes collected as Funds2Orgs will purchase all of the donated footwear. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used, (even sports shoes) or new shoes through April 30 at Sundance SalonSpa, 47 S. Elm St., or at HEC’s headquarters, 3951 N. Meridian St., Ste. 100, Indianapolis (must be between office hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.).

Farmers’ market to open – Whitestown Farmers’ Market will celebrate the season’s opening day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 6. The market is held at Whitestown Municipal Complex, 6210 Veteran’s Drive.

Lunch and Learn On the Road – Boone County Senior Services announces the 2017 lineup for Lunch and Learn On the Road. Lunch and Learn On the Road is for people age 60 and over who would like to travel with us by motor coach to see different parts of our state and learn something new, plus enjoy a special meal. Almost Masters golf outing – Boone Economic Development Corp. presents Almost Masters, a golf outing on May 11 at Indiana Golf Club, 6905 S. 525 E., Lebanon. The day starts with a networking lunch, followed by 18 holes of golf with a GPS navigated cart. Enjoy unlimited drinks on course and happy hour following golf. Meeting dates – The Boone County Solid Waste Management District Board meeting dates for 2017 have been announced. All meetings begin at 8:30 a.m. and are held at the County Annex Building, 116 W. Washington St., Room 105, Lebanon. The meeting dates are May 18, July 20, Sept. 21 and Nov. 16.

Brick Street Market vendors needed – The 32nd Annual Brick Street Market is May 20 and features over 175 arts, crafts, vintage, antique and food vendors. Potential exhibitors and food vendors are invited to apply at www.ZionsvilleChamber.org.

Garden Club plant auction – The Village Garden Club will hold a plant auction at 10 a.m. on May 30 at Mulberry Fields, corner of Mulberry and Ford Road. Proceeds from the auction will be used for the club’s beautification projects and grants. Questions may be directed to 317-873-1898.
