Library to host event on gerrymandering, HB 1014

Gerrymandering is the process of shifting electoral boundaries typically resulting in an advantage for one political party. In Indiana, several groups are working to end gerrymandering during the next statewide redistricting effort.

The Indiana General Assembly is considering HB1014, which would determine how the upcoming redistricting commission is selected and how it will be instructed to operate.

Community members are invited to hear comments from Julia Vaughn, policy director at Common Cause Indiana, and to learn more about gerrymandering by watching a clip from the movie “Gerrymandering.”

The event is sponsored by Boone County Voices for Change and will take place at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Hussey-Mayfield Public Library, 250 N. 5th St., Zionsville.

Tickets are free, but space is limited and registration is required at
