The Illustrious Clients of Indianapolis will present the annual film festival to showcase and enjoy the many portrayals of the great detective in films and television.

“We’ve had one annually since 1989,” said Illustrious Clients of Indianapolis member Vincent Wright, “and have had it many different places, but the Hussey-Mayfield Library has become our (hopefully) permanent home.”

This event is open to anyone interested in Sherlock Holmes.

The group is now in its 70th year of celebrating Sherlock Holmes and his trusty partner, Dr. John H. Watson.

“We meet nine times a year starting in January at a local Victorian mansion to celebrate Holmes’s birthday,” Wright said. “The group is one of the largest and most well-known Sherlockian societies in the country.”

The event will run for five to six hours and usually consists of shorter films and one feature presentation. This year’s feature presentation is The Great Mouse Detective.

“We encourage anyone who wants to attend to do so and enjoy a relaxing day in the air conditioning while watching Sherlock Holmes on screen,” Wright said.

The Zionsville Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Library will provide free popcorn, candy and soft drinks.

There will also be members of the Illustrious Clients of Indianapolis at the event to talk to anyone who wants more information on Holmes or becoming a member.
