Westfield has seen lots of new development in the past couple months, and Penny Foster brings another business to Westfield’s streets.
Grand Style Station, 203 Jersey St., opened its doors for the first time last month. It’s Foster’s first salon, although she worked at Big League Barbers for nine years previous to opening Grand Style Station and has 25 years of experience.
“I was going to go through nursing school, but some classes led me into cosmetology, and I fell in love with the clients,” Foster said.
Foster has cut and styled hair in Hamilton County for her entire career and began looking for a place to start her business around Memorial Day.
So far, Foster said business has been great, and many clients have followed her.
“I think the Grand Junction renovations will bring more clients, but also a lot of my clients that I have did not even know there was a Greek’s Pizzeria or the Rail Epicurean here in Westfield,” Foster said. “I want to help promote other local businesses.”
Grand Junction also played a part in her naming of the salon.
“The first thought was the Monon (railroad) and the trail, so implementing something there made me think of a train … and the grand came from Grand Park and Grand Junction, so then it got to be Grand Style Station,” Foster said.
Foster does primarily haircuts and styles for the whole family but said that after the holiday season, she will start implementing other services such as hair coloring, manicures and pedicures.
Grand Style Station is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday by appointment only.
Prices are $13 for kids, $17 for men and beginning at $22 for women.
