One may think it requires an artistic knack to successfully paint a proper work of art, but thanks to Painting with a Twist you can get step-by-step instructions on how to paint your own work of art and do it while enjoying a glass of wine. Coming to Fishers in November, Painting with a Twist will be opening its first studio in the city at 11680 Commercial Dr., Suite #500.

Fishers resident Lauren Herrmann decided to open the studio after yearning to own her own business.

“I’ve wanted to own my own company for years,” Herrmann said. “My background is in learning and development and I wanted to something that would be fun and also be part of the experience and education that I already have.”

What makes Painting with a Twist special is the ability to get step by step lessons in painting as well as it’s ability to serve alcohol and other beverages.

“You have multiple entertainment choices for a girls’ night out or a birthday party,” Herrmann said. “You can go bowling, go out to eat, go to the movies, go to a bar, and we provide an additional type of experience. I think in most cases, people didn’t realize they could do this themselves. For many people it’s a very relaxing experience that takes them completely away from their worries of the day and again they get to do something they didn’t think they could do.”

Herrmann says that while she doesn’t consider herself an artist she has always had an interest in the field.

“I’ve always had a strong interest in art but I wouldn’t call myself an artist, per se. I have family members who are very talented artists and I’ve always been exposed to it,” Herrmann said. “I have heard so many friends talking about it. Since then I have gone to multiple classes. They’ve all been great, fun experiences.”
