Carmel residents have another New Year’s Eve option in their own backyard.

The Center for the Performing Arts will hold its first New Year’s Eve Extravaganza this year. Tickets go on sale Aug. 18.

Tania Castroverde Moskalenko, the center’s president and CEO, said “On Dec. 31, we will put on what promises to be the best New Year’s Eve party on the North side.”

The party starts at 8 p.m. with local acts playing in two rooms with The Bishops, a party, cover band, playing in the Robert Adam room, Flat Bed Twitch, a three-piece country and rock acoustic trio, will perform in the Founders Room and karaoke, provided by P3 Productions, will be in the Shiel Sexton Songbook Lounge. There will be cocktails and hors d’oeuvres throughout the Palladium. Those groups will perform until about 10 p.m., when the party shifts to the Palladium.

The Hot Sardines, a jazz band, will then perform a concert inside the 1,600-seat Palladium at 10 p.m. The Hot Sardines perform jazz and sultry standards.

“They do original and standards,” said Jessica Patterson, the center’s marketing manager. “They really help bridge the gap between the generations. They do a New Orleans 20s and 30s style jazz but with a really fun, foot-stomping experience.”

There will be a countdown to midnight.

“Shortly after that the concert will conclude and there will be doughnuts and coffee in the lobby,” Patterson said.

Tickets start at $100 and include champagne toast, two drink vouchers and hors d’oeuvres and dancing.

The Indianapolis Museum of Art has chosen not to have its New Year’s Eve party this year.

“When people want to have an artistic experience and want to be inspired, this is a great way for them to experience great music and a fun atmosphere,” Patterson said.

Tickets are available at TheCenterPresents.org and 10 a.m. at the Palladium Box office, or by calling 843-3800.
