Chad and Erin Hunt met while attending Ball State University. Erin grew up in Cicero and Chad grew up in Fort Wayne. In 2006, after graduating from Ball State they decided to move to Jupiter, Fla. While in Florida, Chad worked at a boutique investment firm and as a project manager for a construction company. Erin worked in accounting and business development.

Although they both enjoyed Florida, they missed their families. After 7 years in Florida, they decided to move back.

“Since we started our family we felt that Indiana was a better place to raise our kids. Furthermore, we wanted to be closer to our families. My family lives in Carmel and Erin’s lives in Fishers,” said Chad.

The idea for the Beauty Bar at Geist was born from a trip out with a group of girlfriends in Indianapolis to get their nails done. Erin asked if there was a place where they could get a glass of wine while having their nail services done. This type of salon was common in Florida but there wasn’t anything like it in Indianapolis.

Chad and Erin started doing their research. They looked at all available opportunities from building a new business to purchasing an existing one. Once they found the Reeda Todd salon they fell in love with the location. Given the demographics, they thought that it was the perfect fit.

“I liked this salon because a lot of the staff had been there a long time. There was a feel of community. Most clients had been going there for a decade,” said Erin.

Not only do they love the community they work in, but they also work to help that community, as well. The salon does silent auctions and fundraisers twice a month. The proceeds from these events go to various charities.

Indiana was able to offer them two very important things that Florida couldn’t, according to Chad…their family and Colts football. Now they can have both.
