Zionsville United Methodist Church celebrated their 175th anniversary just last year. In that long history, their mission has always been to serve others before themselves. They continue to lift other’s lives each day through their cornerstones of “Love, Inspiration, Faith and Transformation.” They have several youth programs at the church and one in particular stems from a non-profit faith-based group called the Ten Point Coalition.

The group was originally founded by Rev. Charles Harrison who is the senior pastor at Barnes United Methodist Church of Indianapolis. He will be preaching at Zionsville United Methodist Church on Jan. 25 in order to raise awareness for this cause.

The organization targets at-risk teenagers and offers them help and guidance to make better choices in their lives. The group, led by Harrison, addresses critical issues and, alongside city officials, helps reduce violence in the greater Indianapolis area. His work has spread beyond the city limits and churches like Zionsville United Methodist are more than happy to help in his efforts to stop violence on Indianapolis streets.

“The visit creates awareness of the work that Ten Point strives to reach,” said Zionsville United Methodist member Sue Forry. “These high-risk teens are encouraged to leave a life of crime and violence and make healthier choices in life. Although their work does not take place in Zionsville, we, as a community, can support their work and help to create a better life for those who need the Reverend’s help.”

Forry said this “is an extremely important visit.”

“I feel God is leading us on a path that will make a difference in the lives of young people and the families in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas,” she said.
