The Westfield Fire Dept. is now better equipped to deal with emergencies on the city’s trails and park areas, thanks to a donation from a local business.

Glen Schwartz, owner of Schwartz’s Trailer Sales in Noblesville, donated a trailer valued at $6,000 to the department to assist in moving EMS carts. The carts are used to respond to events on the trail system or during special events.

The department approached Schwartz about purchasing a trailer earlier this year, but determined the cost was not feasible. After learning this, Schwartz had his builder take measurements of the EMS cart and then built a trailer that was tailored to the cart’s dimensions.  The trailer was donated to the department Nov. 2.

“We are very thankful for Mr. Schwartz’s generosity,” Fire Chief Joe Lyons stated. “This will help us better serve the residents of Westfield and keep them safe.”
