The Give Hope Ride presented by Fritz in Fishers is a bicycle-focused event organized to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. The event is scheduled for Memorial Day, May 26, 2014, in Fishers Heritage Park, Fishers, Indiana, and will feature several adult rides of various lengths, a Kids’ Bike Safety Class sponsored by Simpson Construction Services and a family ride.

“The Give Hope Ride will bring together bike enthusiasts and families for a fun morning of bike riding, while allowing them to do something charitable for others through donations to St. Jude,” explains event director, John Wright, Fishers, Indiana.

The adult rides will start from Fishers Heritage Park at 8:00 AM, May 26, 2014 with on-site registration at 7:00 AM. Adult riders can ride a 10-, 25-, 39-, or 49-mile bike course charted through Fishers and the surrounding area. The 10-mile ride is a new “Adult Cruiser Ride” for those new or casual riders who prefer a more relaxed pace. Bottled water and energy foods will be provided at rest stops throughout the adult rides.

Pre-registration is available through the website, www.givehoperide.com, or on the day before the event, Sunday, May 25th, between 11 AM and 4 PM at Motion Cycling and Fitness, located at 9530 E. 126th St., Fishers, IN 46038.  Children can participate in the Kids’ Bike Safety Class, sponsored by Simpson Construction Services, which will commence at the center of the park at 10:30 AM. Children will learn about proper riding posture, crossing roads, hand signals, the importance of helmets, and other bike safety tips from the Fishers Police Department.  After the bike safety class at 11:00 AM, children and their parents can enjoy the Family Ride on the 0.5 mile course within the confines of the park.

Upon registering, all riders will pay a nominal registration fee and will be encouraged to raise donations for their participation in the ride. All fees and donations from the event will benefit St. Jude Childrenʼs Research Hospital. Riders who raise more than $50 for St. Jude will receive a free t-shirt.

 About the Give Hope Ride

The Give Hope Ride is the culmination of five previous Memorial Day bike rides hosted by Fishers residents, John and Peg Wright. The Wrights hosted their first bike ride out of their home in 2009. Then in 2010, having a friend with a daughter who was treated at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, they began using the event to raise donations for St. Jude. Last year, the bike event raised over $12,000. This year, the couple is raising the bar higher, with the goal to double participation and contributions.

About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Since opening more than 50 years ago, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has changed the way the world treats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. No family ever pays St. Jude for the care their child receives and, for every child treated here, thousands more have been saved worldwide through St. Jude discoveries. The hospital has played a pivotal role in pushing U.S. pediatric cancer survival rates from 20 to 80 percent overall, and is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. It is also a leader in the research and treatment of blood disorders and infectious diseases in children. St. Jude was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, who believed that no child should die in the dawn of life.
