Meyer, 45, said his theme for running for council is “five years out.”

“The question is: how do we want Fishers to look five years from now?” he said. “My campaign and how I approach things is through integrity, leadership and experience. These three things tie into the ability to listen fairly. I listen thoughtfully and do what is right.”

Meyer was elected to the Fall Creek Township Board from 1996 to 2010, was president in 2010, and has been active in the Fishers Planning Commission, Fishers Strategic Plan Committee, Fishers Town Government Academy, HSE Schools Facility Study Committee, HSE Schools representatives for common wage hearings, the Fishers Chamber of Commerce, and was a delegate to the Indiana Republican State Convention in 2006 and 2008. He serves as precinct vice committeeman for the Hamilton County Republican Party and is a member of East 91st St. Christian Church in Indianapolis.

“I see three specific elements that I would drive toward to be on Fishers City Council: a vibrant community, low taxes, and a transition from town to city.”

Meyer also said he is concerned about the town’s infrastructure, green spaces, public safety, economic development, and school funding.

“I want to work with our council, mayor and school officials to create the formula for how school funding works going forward,” he said. “Referendums are not a long-term fix.”

A small business owner and fiscal conservative, Meyer is married to Nikki, a teacher at Lantern Road Elementary, and has two children: Claire, a freshman at Purdue, and Lydia, a seventh-grader at HSE Junior High. A graduate of Ball State University with a degree in marketing and Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering, Meyer has lived the majority of his life in Hamilton County.
