Carmel Clay Schools has no shortage of talented student performers, and elementary and middle school students will get a chance to shine in the spotlight during the 30th annual Musical Showcase.

“Organizing this performance is a gift we like to give back to the community each year,” said Stephanie McDonald, co-executive director of the Carmel Education Foundation.

The goal of the event is to positively impact the community by showing the benefits of music programs within schools. The showcase this year will take place from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 24 at Carmel High School, and CEF is seeking community sponsors to make this event possible.

“It is important to take the opportunity at events like this to build and cultivate corporate and/or private partnerships that will serve our mission,” CEF Board President Dana Green said.

The event is free, but donations will be accepted. Green said funds raised will support CCS music departments to enhance curriculum and pay for supplies.

The showcase will also be televised on the Bright House Networks Channel 99 (CHTV) during the annual CEF Telethon on March 8, 9 and 10.

“Carmel High School students from CHTV and technical theater gain experience by filming, editing and being a part of stage crew during this evening,” Green said.

CEF serves all CCS schools by supporting learning and offering teacher grants. It also works to build funding partnerships for the district. This year it hopes to raise $50,000 through fundraising events in honor of the foundation’s 50th anniversary.
