A New York man died in Carmel March 27 after being struck by a falling tree during a storm.
Carmel first responders were called to the 11900 block of Westwood Drive in Carmel at approximately 10:43 p.m. March 27 where they found Elias Smith, 40, who had suffered multiple injuries from the falling tree while attempting to escape the storm. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
The storm led to reports of many downed trees in the area.
