INDOT to conduct two public hearings about proposed U.S. 31 and 236th Street interchange

The Indiana Dept. of Transportation will conduct two events to inform residents and gather feedback on the Environmental Assessment for the interchange project at U.S. 31 and 236th Street.

INDOT will conduct a virtual public meeting and an in-person public meeting. The presentations will be identical and will each provide an opportunity for the public to speak.

The proposed project would include the construction of an interchange at U.S. 31 and 236th Street. The project would rade separate 236th Street over U.S. 31 in a tight diamond configuration. U.S. 31 would remain at the same elevation. The ramp terminals would be single-lane roundabouts with single lane exits. The proposed project would provide free flow operations for U.S. 31 through the corridor and would maintain corridor consistency with most other interchanges on U.S. 31 in Hamilton County, providing driver familiarity. Additional project information is available at in.gov/indot/3831.htm.

The virtual meeting is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 25 on Microsoft Teams. For the meeting information, including a call-in number, residents should email [email protected] or call 317-983-3242.

The in-person public hearing will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. March 30 at the Sheridan Community Center, 300 E. 6th St., Sheridan. Indiana State Dept. of Health guidance for health and safety protocols will precede the meeting.

An Environmental Assessment document has been prepared for the project. It is available online at in.gov/indot/3831.htm.

In addition to providing written or verbal comments at the public hearings, the public may submit comments on the EA through April 15 by emailing [email protected], mailing comments to 8790 Purdue Rd., Indianapolis 46268 or calling 317-983-3242.
