Ascension St. Vincent will host An Evening Among the Stars, a socially distanced drive-in fundraiser, at Tibbs Drive-In Movie Theatre Oct. 24.
The fundraiser will feature music, food, drinks, a silent auction and the movie “Hoosiers,” played on a large screen. Funds raised will benefit Ascension St. Vincent cancer care and cardiovascular research. Amy Traub, a patient of Ascension St. Vincent who endured an 11-year battle with cancer and heart issues, will share her story at the fundraiser.
In 2009, Traub received the life-altering diagnosis of uterine cancer. Since then, she has had additional cancer diagnoses, including in her leg, stomach and lung, and has endured numerous appointments, surgeries, radiation therapy and chemotherapy treatments. Amy also experienced heart issues, which led to open heart surgery and a stent placement.
During her 11-year fight, some things have remained constant for Traub – her family support system, best friend, Cynthia, and pet, Wyatt, as well as her drive to fight and advocate for herself.
Traub remains determined to fight through her next round of radiation therapy and chemotherapy this year, and donors and attendees of the fundraiser will be given the chance to support her and others who continue to turn to Ascension St. Vincent for cancer and heart care.
Traub said she is grateful for her ongoing care team at Ascension St. Vincent. She has also given back to the hospital over the years by volunteering with the Ascension St. Vincent Foundation and attending events, including the Love It! Soirée and Rock the Runway Gala.
