CIW COM 1020 lutz school boardDuane Lutz was first appointed to the Westfield Washington Schools Board of Trustees in June 2012 to fill a vacancy. Since then, he’s been reelected twice. Now, he’s bidding for a third term.

“Initially, my interest in running for the school board stemmed from my service on a variety of other boards in Westfield,” the District 3 incumbent said. “At that time, I had already served as president of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce, the Westfield Lions Club and the Westfield Education Foundation. After holding those leadership positions, I was looking for something else to try. As a father of three school-aged children, I felt a strong desire to get involved in the schools.

“I felt my combination of business experiences as a family business owner and CPA, combined with my civic experiences in Westfield, made me uniquely qualified for the school board.”

Lutz said his goals remain the same if he’s reelected: To put students first in all decisions, to be a strong advocate for public education in Westfield, to work tirelessly on behalf of all students to prepare them for life after school and to be a good steward of taxpayer money.

Lutz is president and CPA for Hoosier Glass Co. He is the secretary for the Westfield Washington Schools Board of Trustees and is a past president. He is the president of the Westfield Education Foundation, a past president of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the Westfield Lions Club and the treasurer for Rocks Junior Golf Club.

In his spare time, Lutz enjoys attending youth sports events and playing golf with his family and friends. He is married to Crissy. They have three kids – Hana, Ethan and Isaac.
