Westfield YMCA, Ascension St. Vincent announce partnership

The new YMCA facility at the southwest quadrant of Wheeler Road and 181st Street will be named the Ascension St. Vincent YMCA, following a partnership between Ascension St. Vincent and the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis.

The YMCA has raised $6 million of the $20 million needed to fully fund the new facility. A groundbreaking for the YMCA will happen after the remaining $14 million is committed.

The Ascension St. Vincent YMCA will include a state-of-the-art wellness center, gym, basketball courts, demonstration kitchen and indoor track. An additional 5,000 square feet will be reserved for services offered by Ascension St. Vincent. The YMCA will connect to the 35,000-square-foot Westfield Washington Schools Natatorium, which will be managed by the YMCA.

“Ascension St. Vincent is dedicated to holistic care that sustains and improves the health of

Indiana residents, and that extends far beyond the walls of our hospitals,” Ascension St. Vincent CEO Jonathan Nalli stated. “The YMCA understands that healthy living is about balancing physical fitness with an equally strong mind and spirit, which aligns perfectly with our Mission-

based approach. Providing easy access to a wellness facility of this caliber allows us to tackle

issues our state is faced with, like heart disease and obesity.”

A comprehensive market analysis is being conducted by FourSquare Research to consider how YMCA facilities might be reimagined to better serve communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results will be driven by community focus groups and online surveys.
