Hamilton County Health department reports first county fatalities from COVID-19

On April 1, The Hamilton County Health Dept. announced the first four fatal cases of COVID-19 in Hamilton County.
“Loss of life is always unfortunate. We will continue to make every effort possible to minimize the risk to the public. Please follow the directives of local, state and federal officials,” Hamilton County Health Officer Dr. Charles Harris stated. “Unless it is absolutely necessary, travel should be limited. The best way to combat COVID-19 is to practice good social distancing and use good hygiene and cleaning practices.”
The Hamilton County Health Dept. announced it won’t provide further information on the cases in order to respect family privacy. The health department also stated it will continue to work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Indiana State Dept. of Health, the Hamilton County Coroner and other county partners to safeguard the residents of Hamilton County.
