Hamilton County resident hospitalized for coronavirus

A Hamilton County resident has been hospitalized with a confirmed case of Coronavirus. The Hamilton County Health Dept. confirmed the case this morning. It also declined to provide further information about the patient, such as his or her city of residence, due to protecting the patient’s privacy. 

Despite the Hamilton County case, the health department still believes the risk to the public is low. 

The health department issued the following statement in a press release:

“The county is working closely with the state health department to identify any close contacts of the patient who might have been exposed to ensure that appropriate precautions are taken in accordance with the latest CDC guidance. At this time, the risk to the public is believed to be low.

“The Hamilton County Health Department will continue to work with CDC, ISDH, and county partners to safeguard the residents of Hamilton County. These efforts include conducting risk assessments with partners, educating the public, and providing recommendations on mitigation strategies.”

The state total of confirmed coronavirus cases is now at 19 with 121 people tested.
