The first Kohler Signature Store in the state recently opened at 4335 E. 82nd St. in Castleton. Store manager Monice Dietterick said Kohler conducts extensive demographic research is done before opening a new store.

“They thought there was a need for a Kohler store here,” said Dietterick, noting the Kohler brand is sold in other stores as well.

Kohler is best known for plumbing products but also manufactures furniture, cabinetry, tile, engines, and generators.

The Indianapolis store offers sinks, plumbing, tile, bathroom floors, vanity cabinets, mirrors, lights, speakers, kitchen sinks, faucets and tile, among other products.

“I think people have been really excited to have another option to shop for their bathroom and kitchen needs,” Dietterick said. “We have had nothing but excitement coming in the door.”

The store opened in August. A grand opening is scheduled for Dec. 12 but a time hasn’t been announced.

“I think our space inspires (customers) because they can see all the ensembles set up, so it helps them put it together in their head on how they’re going to put it together in their house,” said Melody Wisely, a consultant for Kohler.

The store invites to designers to help customers plan for a custom home.

“We welcome designers and builders to come in and utilize the space for clients,” Wisely said. “We have a conference table where they can show project prints and walk through every space of the house that needs plumbing accommodations, identify what the customer wants and lay it out.”
