Letter: Younger residents feel they aren’t welcome

Editor’s note: This letter is in response to a tie vote by the Zionsville Town Council regarding the approval of a multi-use development, including apartments, called Sycamore Flats proposed for downtown Zionsville.

The population of Zionsville was 26,710 in 2017. The people who showed up in opposition (to the meeting) were a well-organized but small subset of Zionsville’s population.

Multiple speakers in opposition ignored facts in the developer presentation, which addressed arguments in opposition made through social media.

Given my second point in this letter, and given portrayals of potential renters I heard in speeches, even given my first point in this letter, I feel like I and other people in my stage of life aren’t welcome in Zionsville.

Ben Cook, Zionsville
