Oktoberfest at Saxony to be two-day event Sept. 21 and 22

Saxony Management Company Marketing Manager Candi McKinnies-Shreve said when Oktoberfest at Saxony started in 2004, it was primarily a marketing effort for Saxony.

“From there, it has progressed into a public event that grew from just a single day to a two-day event,”  she said.

Activities include live entertainment, a free kids’ zone, arts and crafts vendors, authentic German food and beverages, a German costume contest and, weather-permitting, tethered hot-air balloon rides. A beer garden will be open both days.

Admission is free.

“It’s a great annual fall activity allowing the community to get together and to enjoy each other’s company,” McKinnies-Shreve said. “There’s lots of great food, terrific music and it’s just a great opportunity to spend time with one another.”

Activities will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at Witten Park, 13160 Saxony Blvd., with German food and beverages for sale and live music by the band Jambox from 7 to 10 p.m. On Sept. 22, activities are open from 3 to 10:30 p.m. The kids’ zone is open from 3 to 6 p.m., and the arts and crafts vendors are open from 3 to 8 p.m. Live entertainment will be performed by Groove Smash from 3 to 6 p.m. Big Daddy Caddy will perform from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

Saxony is a 750-acre development spanning both sides of I-69. It includes corporate offices, single- and multi-family homes, retail and more. For more, visit Saxony-indiana.com.
