Supreme Court candidate – Judge Matthew C. Kincaid of Boone Superior Court 1 is among 11 finalists for Indiana’s 110th Supreme Court judicial position. The Judicial Nominating Commission conducted public interviews of the 20 applicants March 21 and 22. Kincaid will be invited to a second round of interviews in April. The commission will send three nominees to the governor, who has 60 days to select the next justice. Justice Robert D. Rucker will retire from the five-member Supreme Court May 12.

Student pages – State Sen. Mike Delph (R-Carmel) recently welcomed the following Zionsville students to the Statehouse as student pages: Kaitlyn Brake, Mia Brake, Rae Handy, Jake Henry, Maggey Parker, Sam Parker, Anthony Rememder, Isaac Sorrells, Andrew Swack, Katie Swack, Bianca Valle, Paige Zvokel.

Poetry contest – The Zionsville Cultural District announces the first-ever Step-On-Us Sidewalk Poetry Contest. Winning poems will be stamped into a Village sidewalk for all to see for years to come. Round Up grants awarded – Boone REMC’s Operation Round Up board of trustees recently awarded several grants. The Caring Center received $4,000 for replacing computer equipment. Western Boone Little League received $5,000 to replace fencing at Thorntown League Park. Zachary Goebel of Boy Scout Troop 804 received $346 to help fund his Eagle Scout project. Gardenfest – The 31st annual Gardenfest hosted by the Boone County Master Gardeners will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 8 at the Boone Co. 4-H Fairgrounds. Nearly 20 garden related vendors will sell unique garden art, gifts, flowers, herbs and other garden items. Gardenfest highlights include a used tool and garden item sale, free soil testing, door prizes and expert speakers. Free native tree and shrub seedlings will be given to the first 300 attendees.

Camp scholarship – a scholarship is available for a fifth- or sixth-grader who wants to attend the 2017 Indiana Conservation Officer Organization Karl E. Kelley Memorial Youth Camp in June. The DJ Preece Memorial Scholarship is available to cover the entire cost of the camp. Applications are due by April 14. For more information, visit icoo.com/youthcamp.php.

Community garden plots – Zionsville Parks has plots available in two community gardens. Plot fee is $25 and includes a 20’ x 20’ plot at either Heritage Trail Park or Elm Street Green. To register, visit Town Hall from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. For more, call 317-733-2273.

Theater Thursdays – Boone County Senior Services, Inc. brings back Theater Thursdays on the third Thursday of each month with a special morning movie at the Lebanon 7 Theater, 1600 N. Library Programs – Safe-sitter class, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 22. A course designed to teach babysitters how to be safe and nurturing caregivers, and how to handle children’s emergencies. Please bring a sack lunch. For grades 6-8. Cost is $60. Register at zionsvillelibrary.org.

Electronics recycling – An electronics recycling drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 22 at University High School, 2825 W. 116th St. Phones, computers, printers, tablets, cables, and more are welcome. Tube TV’s with a CRT screen have an additional $10 charge.

Mayor’s Night In – Mayor Tim Haak and the Town of Zionsville staff and department heads want to hear from you. Mayor’s Night In will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. April 26 at Zionsville Town Hall. This is a chance to hear about the current happenings in Zionsville, to ask questions and to connect with Town officials. Following a brief presentation, there will be a Q&A session. All residents, neighborhood associations and businesses are invited to attend.

New scholarship program – Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union, announces the new Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program, available to college students that are members of Indiana Members Credit Union. Up to twenty-five $1,000 scholarships will be offered. Meeting dates – The Boone County Solid Waste Management District Board meeting dates for 2017 have been announced. All meetings begin at 8:30 a.m. and are held at the County Annex Building, 116 W. Washington St., Room 105, Lebanon. The meeting dates are May 18, July 20, Sept. 21 and Nov. 16.

ZCHS class reunion – The Zionsville Community High School Alumni Association announces the fifth annual all-class reunion, to be held from 7 to 11 p.m. on July 29 in the Lion’s Club Park. For more information or to get involved, visit ZionsvilleAlumni.org.
