Gov. Eric Holcomb has appointed Carmel resident Allison Karns to serve as legislative director in the Governor’s office.

“With her vast experience and expertise, I am excited to have Allison on board,” Holcomb stated in a press release. “She will be a critical piece in moving forward our comprehensive legislative vision for Indiana’s future.”

Karns previously served as the policy director for Public Safety for former governor Mike Pence and in various legislative roles in the U.S. Congress in Washingston, D.C., the Indiana General Assembly, the Indiana Public Retirement Fund and the Indiana Dept. of Homeland Security.

Karns is a graduate of Indiana University McKinney School of Law. She moved to Carmel in 1988.

“It was an honor to be appointed as Governor Holcomb’s legislative director and to have an opportunity to serve Hoosiers and play a role in taking our state to the next level,” Karns said.
