With locations ready to open in early 2017 in Carmel and downtown, Traders Point Christian Church recently announced that it would also be adding a location on the west side of the Indianapolis area some time late next year.

The campus pastor is David Cupp, but the location is still to be determined.

“We’re really flexible in terms of location,” TPCC Communications Director Erica Thomas said.

TPCC chose to expand west because a high number of people in the congregation live on that side of town, and they wanted to accommodate church members and be better able to serve more local neighborhoods and respond to the needs of the community.

“Just watching the excitement in people of being able to actually have a location within 20 minutes of driving distance from their home, where they can actually invite their neighbors to church, and their neighbors don’t have to drive 35, 40 minutes to try out a new church,”  Thomas said.

Carmel services have been conducted at a temporary location with more than 800 members, and Thomas said it’s possible that they will do the same for the new location on the west side. More than 6,000 people attend TPCC.

“Seeing how one church can really be in multiple locations, how it is a Traders Point experience, you have this local small church vibe,” Thomas said. “That’s part of the beauty of these new locations. They’re smaller congregations that can really get to know the people.”

The Carmel location will occupy a former church. The downtown location was formerly a Jehovah’s Witness Hall.

Church officials are looking for a place on the west side with enough parking and a meeting space, but they are open to any possibility.

“We know that God’s going to bring it together,” Thomas said.

There are no plans to open a school at any future locations, she added.
