Library programs – Secret Snowflake Shop, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 3. Children can shop for Christmas gifts for parents and other loved ones with the help of a library volunteer. Pet supply drive – Pet Valu is holding a Thanks For Giving collection drive throughout the month of November to assist local animal shelters and rescue groups. Customers are encouraged to make monetary donations or contribute pet supplies at their local Pet Valu store.

Breakfast with Santa – Santa invites you to join him at the annual Tri-Kappa Santa Breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. on Dec. 3 at Christmas in the Village on Main Street. The child-friendly breakfast will be followed by crafts, activities, and a chance to visit with Santa himself. Tickets are $15 each and can purchased at www.ZionsvilleTriKappa.org.

Grants awarded – Boone REMC’s Operation Round Up board of trustees recently awarded $900 from Operation Round Up to help with continued development of the Big 4 Trail. This award was combined with a donation of $9,100 from Premier Power Maintenance (a Boone REMC contractor) for the value of a retired substation transformer, and $5,000 from Boone REMC financial partner CoBank. As a result, The Friends of Boone County Trails received a check for $15,000. The Community Foundation of Boone County is matching this gift for a total donation value of $30,000.

License branch holiday – All BMV license branches will be closed on Nov. 24 and 25 in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. Branches will resume normal business hours on Saturday, Nov. 26.

Toy Drive – The Zionsville Fire Dept. is collecting toys for the annual Boone County Toy Drive. Donations may be dropped off at all three ZFD fire stations and at Zionsville Town Hall. Items being collected include: new and gently used toys and electronics for children age 0 to 18, clothing for all ages and food donations.

Advent concerts – Christ Lutheran Church will host an Advent Concert Series on four consecutive Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Each service will present music and a meditation and will be followed by refreshments. A nursery will be available for small children. Concerts are: Nov. 30, Brownsburg High School Madrigal Singers; Dec. 7, Matthew Masko on organ and piano; Dec. 14, Christ Lutheran Church Bell Choir; Dec. 21, Heidi Schmidt, soprano. Zionsville basketball – Learn about the history of Zionsville basketball from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library. Local writer and historian Kermit Paddack will talk about the proud history of basketball in Zionsville. Copies of his books will be available for signing and purchase. Registration required. Leaf collection – The Town of Zionsville’s Street and Stormwater Dept. will provide curbside leaf collection from now through Dec. 2. Residents should rake leaves into long, narrow piles along the curb. No sticks or other yard rubbish should be in the piles. Cars should park off street if possible. The leaf vacuum will visit each neighborhood weekly as schedules allow.

Plastic bag swap – The Boone County Solid Waste Management District is holding its annual plastic bag swap from now through Nov. 23. For every 10 plastic bags you bring into the district office, 220 W. Washington St., Lebanon, you will receive one reusable shopping bag made from recycled water bottles.

Library programs – Dinovember – Dinosaurs are taking over the library. Come to Youth Services during November to see if you can find any hidden dinosaurs. Veterans Tree – Drop by Youth Services to make an ornament for our Heroes’ Tree. Hope for Heroes collection – from now through Dec. 17, the library is accepting socks, underwear, T-shirts and personal care items for distribution to veterans. Nature Center food drive – Throughout November, Zion Nature Center is collecting food items for Zionsville Food Pantry. Please bring one item when visiting Zion Nature Center or attending a park program. Especially needed are canned spinach, peas, mixed vegetables, applesauce, fruit cocktail, chicken, tuna, peanut butter, condensed and creamy soups, tooth brushes, tooth paste, laundry detergent and soap. Coat drive – Local orthodontist David Judy and the Judy Orthodontics Team are sponsoring Warm Up for Winter through Nov. 30. Donations of new or gently used winter wear such as coats, hats, gloves and scarves can be dropped off at the Judy Orthodontics office at 3965 W. 106th St., Suite 150. Donations will benefit the Julian Center.

Show Choir concert – Zionsville Show Choirs will perform their holiday concert at 7 p.m. both Dec. 1 and 2 at Zionsville Performing Arts Center. Tickets will be on sale starting Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. For more, visit zchoirs.com.
