Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to share any information or identify susepcts in an evening, Oct. 12 robbery at Centro Cristiano Church, 4240-110 N. Franklin Rd.
At approximately 7:35 p.m. that evening, Lawrence Police responded to an alarm at the church.
Responding officers made contact with church attendees, including one who assisted in translation for several of the victims. He advised that several church attendees were robbed by three armed suspects. The victims had been at the church for approximately 1 1/2 hours prior to the robbery.
According to reports from witnesses, suspect No. 1 stayed at the door and pointed a firearm at the victims. He was described as a 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 African American, skinny, 130 to 140 pounds, mid 20s, wearing a black hoodie, black pants and white and black tennis shoes. He was armed with a black handgun.
Suspect No. 2 was reported as pointing a firearm at the victims while removing items from their pockets while they were on the ground. He was described as 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 African American, mid 20s, wearing a black hoodie, gray and black pants and white and black tennis shoes. He was armed with a small, black handgun.
Suspect No. 3 was reported to have pointed a firearm at the victims and removed items from their pockets while they were on the ground. He was described as 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10, mid 20s, wearing black pants and a black hoodie. He was armed with a handgun.
Upon entering the church, suspects directed the victims to lay on the ground, then removed personal items from the victims pockets. The suspects also threatened to shoot the victims.
Items stolen during the robbery include personal items from the victims, including small amounts of cash belonging to the victims.
The suspects may of fled north and west around the building after the robbery. Detectives have not yet located video of the suspects, however will be re-canvassing the adjacent area today seeking video.
