Sarah N. Schleeter, 17, of Carmel passed away on July 14. She was born July 10, 1999, in Columbus, Ohio, to Thomas P. and Diane M. (Funk) Schleeter.
In the midst of our sadness, we remain in awe of Sarah and her full life. For someone whose muscles were weak, we never knew anyone stronger in spirit. For someone who couldn’t speak, we never knew anyone who could communicate better. She is no longer trapped in her broken body. Instead she is walking, talking, running, dancing, singing and eating in Heaven.
We thank everyone who loved Sarah. She was so well cared for by her many doctors and Carmel Clay Schools, where she would have been a junior. In addition to her parents, Sarah is survived by her siblings Ryan and Samantha; grandparents, Robert and Jane Funk and Philip and LaVonne Schleeter.
Family and friends will gather on 2 p.m. July 24 in St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, where a Celebration of Life service will begin at 3 p.m.
