Zionsville Women in Network – Are you interested in meeting other businesswomen to discuss growing your business or listen to speakers on a variety of topics? Join the ladies of ZWIN on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting is from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 14 at Zionsville United Methodist Church. I Pledge for Ice Cream – July is national ice cream month and The Scoop, 305 S. Main St., is participating in the I Pledge for Ice Cream project. On I Pledge days, the Scoop will give any child (age 10 and under, accompanied by an adult) who recites the Pledge of Allegiance from memory a free scoop of ice cream. I Pledge events will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. July 18 and 25.

DeMars joins sorority – Psi Iota Xi, Zionsville chapter, welcomes new member, Cathy DeMars who was initiated in June. Psi Otes is a philanthropic sorority that is active in speech and hearing, arts, music and literature in the Zionsville community. Youth council needs applicants – Whitestown leaders have formed the Whitestown Youth Council. The council will hold meetings, make motions, and create and vote on resolutions and ordinances, just as their senior counterparts do. They will advise the elected Town Council members about suggested changes concerning issues important to their generation and the Whitestown community. Youth in grades 9-12 are being sought. Food & Flicks – Traders Point presents Food & Flicks on the Field every other Friday through July 29. Food trucks will open at 8 p.m. and the movies will begin at dusk in front of the Academy building at Traders Point Christian School, 6600 S. Indianapolis Rd., Whitestown. Movie lineup includes: Zootopia – July 15; Big Hero 6 – July 29.

Library programs –Stress ball balloons, 3 to 3:30 p.m. July 20. Ages 9 to 12 years old. Destress and get crafty as we make our own stress balls out of balloons! Create an herbal first aid kit, 1 to 3 p.m. July 21. Ice cream social and dinner – Salem United Methodist Church of Zionsville Annual Ice Cream Social and Dinner will be held on from 4 to 7 p.m. July 16. Sandwiches, salads, cakes, homemade cobblers and, of course, ice cream will be served. Freewill offerings will be taken to benefit the Salem Church College Scholarship Fund. Salem UMC is located at 6701 S. 800 E. (1/2 mile south of Oak Street on Kissel Road/800 E). Nature Center news – The Zion Nature’s summer hours are noon to 5 p.m. Fridays and Sundays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Join us from 1 to 4 p.m. July 16 for World Snake Day. Stop in and enjoy snake crafts and activities, a live animal show, and much, much more. Snakes of the World animal shows are at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. and require registration as space is limited.
