Green Bean implements new additions

Katie Wiley began using Green Bean Delivery for convenience. When it was just her and her husband consuming the food, she went through the smallest bin of groceries every other week. Now, with the addition of two children, Wiley said the family goes through three to four bins every other week.

“I started using the system for convenience. Both my husband and I had very busy schedules with our jobs, but we wanted to have healthy food available in the house for meals and snacks. It was so nice to have fresh produce around,” the Westfield resident said. “However, over time it has morphed into something more important for us. I use it for meal planning ideas. I also use it to make sure we eat what is fresh and in season and incorporate those items into our meals rather than just eating the same thing all of the time.”

Green Bean uses groceries on the online site from local farmers.

“We are community based and community focused, and every community we are in we give back to the area through food bank donations and tying in with local artisanal providers whether it be produce or groceries,” said President Shane Towne, who lives in Carmel. “We really put the dollars back into the community because of who we support in service.”

At the beginning of this year, the online healthy grocer system incorporated three new initiatives for the program, which serves Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Columbus, Ohio, St. Louis and Nashville, Tenn.

The organization redesigned the mobile application to be more easily used through mobile devices and established a You-Pick Bin, which allows customers to order a bin the day before delivery.

“It is very convenient,” Wiley said. “The prices are similar to what you find at Fresh Thyme, Fresh Market and Market District. I don’t have to drag my kids to the store or fit it in after work or in our very little spare time on the weekend. Now with the added feature to order until Tuesday, I am thrilled because I will be even better able to select what we really need for the week or if I am traveling on a weekend, I won’t mess up and forget to customize my bin.”
