Zionsville’s Lincoln Park Concert Series will celebrate its 25th year with an array of musical styles.

“This season will see a wonderful mix of music from blues, rock, R & B, soul, jazz, surf, country and bluegrass,” said Tim McLaughlin, a committee member who is charge of arranging the bands for the free series.

The Wednesday-night concerts will be presented by the Zionsville Cultural District in partnership with Zionsville Parks and Recreation. The National Bank of Indianapolis, Current in Zionsville and Control Tech are among the sponsors.

“I don’t believe we have anyone that we had last year,” said committee-member Sarah Zack, an Eagle Elementary art teacher and Zionsville resident. “We always try to pick new bands and mix it up. We focus on making sure we have a variety of music.”

The series will open with The Warrior Kings on June 1.

The June 8 concert features Alex Young Quartet. Young, a jazz saxophonist from Zionsville, has toured nationally and performed locally at the Jazz Kitchen.

Some Zionsville restaurants have committed to provide unique food items for guests to purchase.

A limited number of chairs are provided, but guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Concerts begin at 7 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. Lincoln Park is at the corner of First and Oak Streets. In the event of inclement weather, the concerts will move into the Zionsville Lions Club clubhouse, 115 South Elm St. The Zionsville Lincoln Park Concert Series’ Facebook page will provide weather information and weekly updates on restaurants and performers.
