Art contest and display – A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, at 11411 N. Michigan Rd., is hosting the fourth annual Memorial Day Art Contest, which will feature artwork from Zionsville Middle School and Zionsville West Middle School students.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the top winners, and there will be a service held by the local American Legion. The art will be judged by My Art in Zionsville, then be on display and open to the public until June 30. Deadline to turn in art is May 19. For more information, call 317-873-4776.

Remembering Chaz Bennington – Cobblestone Grill, 160 S. Main St., will celebrate the life of Chaz Bennington from 5 to 10 p.m. on May 22. There will be a cash bar, food and DJ music provided by Chaz’s great friend, Rusty Redenbacher. Contributions to the Preston Bennington College Fund will also be welcome.  Reservations can be made at 317-873-4745

New initiates – Zionsville’s Alpha Lambda chapter of Psi Iota Xi philanthropic sorority has initiated three new members. The sorority has been a part of Zionsville for over 90 years focusing on arts, literature, music and speech and hearing. New members include, pictured from left: Jill Burkhard, Janel Manwaring, and Carly Munder.

IMCU donates to schools – Indiana Members Credit Union has donated a combined $17,375 to 10 area schools for the 2015-2016 school year through its debit card give-back program. IMCU members can received a debit card associated with a school and when they use that card, the school benefits. Local schools that received funds include Carmel, Zionsville, Westfield and Noblesville.

Indy 500 volunteers needed – The 100th Running of the Indy 500 Host Committee is looking for volunteers for the upcoming events. Some areas where volunteers are needed include: alcohol sales, identification checks, greeters, transporting people, collecting money and tickets. Fairy Garden event – Earth Explorer Toys will hold its popular Fairy Garden Event on May 21 for girls ages 6-12. Each girl will make her own unique fairy garden to take home. Cost is $15 and reservations are required as limited spots are available. Class times are 10:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Call 317-873-0200 to reserve a spot.

Bike Challenge – Zionsville Dept. of Parks and Recreation announces the third annual Zionsville Bike Challenge. Riders pick a team, choose a skill level, join group rides, log miles ridden and have the chance to earn prizes. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Swim club kick-off – The public is invited to the Azionaqua summer kick-off and fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. on May 27 at 7875 Willow Rd. Admission is $5 for members, $8 for nonmembers and includes swimming, bounce house, cake walk, carnival games, food vendors and other activities. One free membership will be given away.

Swim team open house – Azionaqua Swim Club, 4975 Willow Rd., will hold a swim team open house on June 1 for kids who love swimming. Sessions will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. for kids ages 9-14 and from 9 to 10 a.m. for kids ages 5-8. Meet the coaching staff and participate in a practice session. Teacher gift idea – How will you thank teachers at the end of the year? The Zionsville Education Foundation recommends an Eagle Honor donation in that teacher’s name. For a minimum donation of $10 to the ZEF, a certificate with a note of thanks from you will be sent to the teacher, bus driver, nurse, administrator, coach or any other person who made the school year better for you or your child. Polo charity match – The 13th Annual Boone Co. Polo Charity will be held July 9 at the Hickory Hall Polo Club, 7551 E. 100 N., Whitestown. Gates will open at 11 a.m. and the match begins at 1 p.m. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser benefit Boone County Senior Services, Inc. Lunch and Laugh – Boone Co. Senior Services, Inc. presents Lunch and Laugh: A Day to Remember … Doris Day with Mary Anne Barothy, former personal secretary to actress Doris Day and author of “Day at a Time-an Indiana Girl’s Sentimental Journey to Doris Day’s Hollywood and Beyond” at noon on May 27 in the chapel at Zionsville Meadows, 675 S. Plant auction – The Village Garden Club Annual Plant Auction will be held at 10 a.m. on May 31st in the picnic shelter behind Zionsville Town Hall.  In case of rain, it will be held inside the Town Hall. All are welcome to come and bid on perennials dug up from members’ gardens.

Senior Health & Fitness Day – The Hearth at Tudor Gardens will join an estimated 1,000 local groups to celebrate the 23rd Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day from 2 to 4 p.m. on May 24. As an official host site, The Hearth at Tudor Gardens will host an opportunity for the public to spin the Live More prize wheel. Refreshments will be provided. Rain barrel workshop – Zionsville Parks will hold a rain barrel workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 18 at Zionsville Town Hall, Community Room. Learn how to build, install, maintain and even decorate a rain barrel for your home. Rain barrel kits are available to purchase. The workshop is free. A rain barrel kit may be purchased for $45.
