The Humane Society for Hamilton County is participating in its first ever “Barks, Brews and BBQ,” a dog-friendly event featuring a variety of breweries and food options set for March 6 at The Pavilion at Pan Am Plaza, 201 S. Capitol Ave. in Indianapolis.

The event was created by 317 Events, and HSHC was chosen as the beneficiary.

“With the event being at The Pavilion, we can offer the community and their four-legged family members the opportunity to enjoy an ‘outdoor-like’ festival indoors during the winter months,” said Bryan Schmidt, Event Director at 317 Events.

Schmidt adopted his dog, a “Whipador” named Kona, from HSHC.

“317 Events chose the Humane Society for Hamilton County as the beneficiary of the event because of their excellent reputation in the community, their great presence on social media and because they are an open-admission, truly no-kill shelter,” he said.

Cost is $25 per person and under 21 are free with a small donation. Admission includes two drink tickets and a doggie bandana.

A variety of beers will be available for purchase along with live music, food, vendors and shopping.

“There’s no other indoor festival quite like this in the Indiana, so we are absolutely thrilled to partner with 317 Events to hopefully make this an annual event and a successful fundraiser supporting our No-Kill mission,” said Rebecca Stevens, executive director of HSHC.
