Something new is blooming on Main Street.

Co-owners Wendi Louks and Amy Talbott will open flower shop Blooms on Feb. 8.

The store will be filled with fresh flowers, some succulents, Donaldson’s Finer Chocolates, plus gift items for babies, weddings and showers. In the future they hope to host showers or flower arranging classes on the second floor of their shop.

“We were looking for something new,” Talbott said. “We saw a need.”

“The need was a big part of it,” Louks said. “When I go out and about, what in the world do I go out and try to find and cannot find.”

They’d been thinking of opening a flower shop for a year or two, and when the location opened they decided to move forward.

“We really like being here in the thick of brick street,” Louks said.

While the two are learning flower arranging, professionals will handle the bigger arrangements.

“We have a couple of floral designers that are very talented,” Louks said.

“But yet price savvy,” she added. They’ll offer boutonnieres and corsages, plus simple bouquets to grab for the dinner table.

A flat $5 fee will apply to all deliveries within 46077, although they will make deliveries to Whitestown, Carmel and Boone County. Their initial hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, although that might change if there’s a need.

With both Talbott and Louks having sons, the shop is something “girly” that they can enjoy and decorate in a feminine style.

The friends are also co-owners of Dragonfly Tickets, reselling popular event tickets, and have worked together for several years.
