Travel advisory issued for Hamilton Co.

0

A yellow level Travel Advisory has been issued for unincorporated roads in Hamilton Co., effective this evening, Monday, Jan. 11, until further notice, ahead of winter weather forecasted tonight.

This is the lowest level of local travel advisory and means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation. Individuals should use caution or avoid those areas. Unincorporated roads are those roads maintained by Hamilton Co., usually roads outside cities and towns.

The National Weather Service is forecasting several inches of additional snow on top of what fell over the weekend and has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Hamilton Co. from 10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11 until noon Tuesday, Jan. 12. Gusty winds may increase travel difficulties by limiting visibility and causing snow drifts on roads. Plan on extra time for Tuesday morning’s commute.

As a reminder with winter driving, reduce speeds and leave extra room between vehicles. Make sure all windows are clear of snow and ice. Turn on lights to increase visibility even during the day, and make sure to keep an emergency kit along with a fully charged cell phone handy. In case of a slide off or crash, contact Hamilton Co. Public Safety Communications at 773-1282 or 911 for an emergency.
