Carmel-based TCC recently pulled off its biggest acquisition in the company’s 24-year history.

Last month, TCC, the largest Verizon Premium Wireless Retailer in the United States, acquired 88 We R Wireless stores in Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia.

“The acquisition was important to us for a couple reasons. We R Wireless had a very strong presence out east,” said Erik Schlesselman, chief revenue officer. “It enhances our distribution and our footprint on the Eastern seaboard. There was a lot of cultural synergy between us and that team. It was an overall win for our employees, our communities in which we serve and the customer base we’ll be serving as well.”

Those 88 stores will be rebranded as TCC in the next three to six months, Schlesselman said.

Schlesselman, a Westfield resident, said there are now 729 stores in 37 states.

“We had some presence (in the East) but this strengthens our presence up and down the East Coast,” Schlesselman said. “It does bring us into some states where we didn’t previously distrubute, New York metro, New Jersey, for example.”

Carmel has been home to TCC’s corporate headquarters for two years. The company moved from Marion to 525 Congressional Blvd. in August 2013. There are approximately 150 employees in the Carmel headquarters, Schlesselman said.

There are 99 TCC stores in Michigan, Kentucky and Indiana.

“As the largest acquisition TCC has ever made, I’m confident the addition of We R Wireless stores will help us extend our core business and spread our Culture of Good charitable endeavors to new communities,” stated Jay Sichting, chief administration officer of TCC. “We R Wireless is a natural fit for TCC, and its performance-focused employees complement our dedication to providing top service to our customers. Together, we’ll offer a strong portfolio of wireless industry solutions.”

TCC gives back to the communities it serves through its Culture of Good program, which holds four annual company-wide donation and volunteer campaigns as well as other initiatives that help generate goodwill.

TCC launched in 1991 with a single store in Marion, Ind. This spring, TCC acquired 55 new Verizon Wireless Premium Retailers: 37 Wireless Communications stores in South Carolina and Georgia and 18 Phones Plus stores in the Pacific Northwest.
