A Carmel-area business has been devoting its year to giving back.

The biggest event is yet to come. Foster, Pike & Associates, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services Inc., will hold a fundraising event for the Wounded Warrior Project from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Three Meridian Plaza, 10333 N. Meridian St.

Foster, Pike & Associates is in Carmel but carries an Indianapolis address.

“This year we’ve used pretty much all of our marketing budget in a year to give back,” said Sarah Shonk, marketing manager for the company.

The company will host a Make-A-Wish (for Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky) event on Dec. 12 where parents can bring their children to get pictures with Santa Claus. In the spring, the company held a similar event with the Easter Bunny.

Those in attendance can make donations to knock owner Joyce Foster, a Carmel resident, into the dunk tank and to toss pies at Jimmy Pike, financial advisor. There will be WWP bracelets available for sales.

The company will also make a $1 donation for every person that attends.

There will be two food trucks, Johnson’s Bar-B-Que Shack and The Flying Cupcake.

In addition, there will be balloon toss competition, corn hole and music by the Faith Marie Duo.

“We would love to raise at least a $1,000,” Shonk said. “We’re already plan to give (WWP) $250 we won as an award (for a presentation on a marketing initiative on the A Year to Give Back).”

Ameriprise, the parent company, donated $100,000 to the WWP earlier this year.

The mission of the WWP is to honor and empower injured veterans. The project’s purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service workers. A representative of Wounded Warrior be present to collect the donations.
