Fishers Police arrest woman responsible for motor crash

Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on June 1, Fishers police and fire personnel responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a serious motor vehicle crash on Southeastern Parkway.

Upon their arrival, officers located six children (ages 5-16 years old) and one adult, Robin Kerns, 42, suffering various injuries. All seven victims were transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital by the Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Those injured were occupants of the van. The three occupants in the passenger car were not injured.

The Fishers Police Department Crash Team was called to the scene and determined the passenger car was traveling eastbound on Southeastern Parkway when it left the roadway and lost control. The passenger car returned to the roadway, crossed the centerline and struck the van as it was traveling westbound.

The driver of the passenger car, Carter Lynn James, 21, was arrested without incident and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. James was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
