Being an internationally accredited Fire Station, Fishers Fire and Emergency Services is quite capable of handling its organization’s internal affairs. But when it comes to important decisions regarding discipline or advancement within the FFES, the Metropolitan Fire Commission takes responsibility.

On April 27, the first 2015 meeting of the MFC was held at the station at 6 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to swear in the new members of the commission, go over the commission regulations with new members and determine a secretary, vice president and president.

The commission consists of five members. In selecting those members, two persons, who must be of different political parties, are appointed by the Fishers City Council. One person is appointed by the Fishers Fire Chief, and two persons, who must be of different political parties, are elected by the active members of the Fishers Fire Department.

Those chosen were Dave Cohen, Bill Stuart, Charlie Cohen, Bryan Baab and Michael Peterson. Bryan Baab was nominated as president of the commission, Bill Stuart was nominated as vice president and Charlie Cohen was nominated as secretary.

The board’s next meeting will be based on an as needed basis.
