February’s Teacher of the Month winner is Jessica Day, a sixth grade teacher at Zionsville Middle School. She was nominated by student Yiannis Pappas. As a reward, Yiannis won a pizza party for his class and Day won a $100 cash voucher from Teacher of the Month sponsor BMO Harris bank. Pizza was sponsored by Amore Pizzeria.

Here is Yiannis’ winning essay:

“My Favorite Teacher”

One of my favorite teachers would have to be Mrs. Day, the only reason why I choose her is because she is so nice and she is always trying to help out when you need help. If you ask her to help you she almost is super nice to the point sometimes she gets to be too nice. The only one thing that sometimes is hard is getting the work done because she is so nice like for examples … on tests and things like that she is always coming and helping me through the hard type of thing I have the most struggles and so that kind of puts her in the nicest teacher position because she really is to me one of the best most nicest teachers I have ever had in my middle school years. But one of the best parts about it is that she will doing anything to get your grades back up because she has come up to me one time and said to me “would you like me to let you have some extra credit?” and believe me a normal teacher would never do that to someone by just walking up to you and asking you that type of question. That is the one reason why I say that Mrs. Day is one of the best teachers I have ever had and so that is why I picked her.
