Bridge preservation project to restrict Ind. 32 traffic in Westfield

INDOT plans to begin a bridge deck overlay this spring on the Ind. 32 bridge over Little Eagle Creek three miles west of U.S. 31. A temporary traffic control signal will be installed on or after March 1 to regulate alternating directions of traffic sharing one lane across the bridge.

The temporary signal allows crews to maintain traffic on Ind. 32 throughout the project while completing the bridge overlay one half at a time. Once the first half is complete, traffic will be shifted to begin work on the second half.

Bridge deck overlays preserve the structures, protect against moisture and provide a renewed driving surface for motorists. The $467,000 contract was awarded to Duncan Robertson, Inc. of Franklin, Indiana. All work on the project is expected to be complete by September.
