With Christmastime just around the corner, all the busy craftsmen in a number of local area woodworking shops have completed their year-long projects designing and crafting a total of 9,200 wooden toys destined for area charitable organizations, and are now preparing for their annual distribution.

Among these woodworking groups is the Carmel Golden K Kiwanis Club’s woodshop, which is located in the rear of Janus Development Services on Westfield Road. They have become affiliated with the Central Indiana Woodworkers, a 110-member group that meets weekly at six workshops around the Indianapolis area, making toys all year long for more than 28 charities.

The Carmel Golden K shop’s dozen or so members can be found just about every day of the week, designing and crafting items such as pull-toys, child’s benches, musical instruments and whatever else comes out of their creative minds.
