At 2:12 a.m. Nov. 18, the Westfield Fire Dept. responded to 1524 W. 193rd St. on a report of a residence fire. Fire Chief Joe Lyons said upon arrival crews found smoke coming from the residence.

“Crews were able to quickly get the fire under control and minimized damage to the residence,” Lyons said. “The fire is still under investigation.”

Westfield crews were assisted by Zionsville, Sheridan, Carmel and Cicero.

Lyonsa said the family was home at the time of the fire and made it out safely with their dogs. One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital and is expected to be treated and released.
