Officials opened a new road in Westfield designed to improve access to the upgraded U.S. 31 on Nov. 4.

“We’re eagerly looking forward to the completion of the U.S. 31 project and what it will bring to our community,” Mayor Andy Cook stated. “We’ve been fortunate to work with the designers of the project to assist our residents and businesses to maintain good access to (U.S.) 31 along the way.”

The new North Union Street connector will allow businesses and homeowners in the north end of Westfield to continue to access U.S. 31 via the new interchange at 191st Street.  This new roadway connects into East Street, which going north will go to the new roundabout at 191st Street.

The project was designed by CHA Engineering. Rieth-Reilly served as the contractor.
