The SullivanMunce Cultural Center has been awarded a grant of $5,000 made possible by the Community Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation of Boone County to fund its operations in the areas of local history, genealogy and art.

The Community Foundation of Boone County pledged an additional $5,000 to SullivanMunce, which will come in the form of a dollar-for-dollar match from other SullivanMunce donors. To raise these additional funds, SullivanMunce is launching a membership drive. Families and individuals can join as members of SullivanMunce to support its mission of enriching community life through the preservation, education and appreciation of history, genealogy and the arts.

“Any of these levels would go towards the match,” said the center’s executive director Cynthia Young.

Young said memberships start at $35 for individuals and $50 for families, but can go up to $500 depending on the level of membership someone wants.

Membership dues help fund the important work done by SullivanMunce, including: preserving a more than 7,000-item historic archive; staging exhibits about our community’s past; hosting art shows of local youth and regional professional artists; and assisting patrons with genealogical research.  Members of SullivanMunce receive many benefits: discounts on classes and camps; discount tickets to GhostWalk; a 10 percent discount in the Artisan Boutique; and free registration for Paint Out, First Come, First Hung, and historic walking tours.
