Obituary: Gerald D. Edwards

Gerald D. Edwards, 73, of Lapel, died Sept. 13, 2014 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. Born Oct. 31, 1940 in Noblesville, he was the son of Alden and Janie (Johnson) Edwards.

He worked at Truss Manufacturing for 14 years and then as a security officer at Pinkerton Security for 10 years before retiring in 2002. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard from 1958 to 1963. He was a former member of Jolietville Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. He was an outdoorsman, loved hunting and fishing, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Fay Edwards, whom he married in 1963; children, Barbara (Tom) Roark, Mark (Wanda) Edwards and Matthew Edwards; sister, Lavina Edwards; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Tina Brown and Michelle Wiltermood; granddaughter, Jessica Brown; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Sept. 17 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Rd., Noblesville. Burial followed at Chester Friends Cemetery in Westfield.
